About Us
Remember Summer Days is a Vento Aureo summer zine focused on exploring the characters' relationships, as well as themes of friendship, love, and bittersweet nostalgia.The zine will be set in the 1990s and centered mainly around character relationships, whether romantic, platonic, or familial.Artists will have the option to choose the number and type of illustrations, which will include single page illustration, double page spread, or two-page comic. Artists may create up to two separate pieces.For writers, we would like one 2k fic each with a max word count of 2.5k.Merch artists will be able to choose preferred merch and will be assigned merch pieces according to preference.As we would like to maintain a relaxed, stress-free atmosphere in the project, there will be no hard due dates. Rather, contributors will have a week to submit their pitches and check-ins, and two weeks for final submissions. Extensions will be provided upon request as well.
Additionally, contributors will have full creative freedom as long as it stays within zine guidelines.
FAQ
Q: Will this have SFW and NSFW components or will it just be SFW?A: As the zine is planned for physical release, no explicit NSFW will be present in the zine. However, mildly suggestive works will be allowed.Q: Can cosplayers participate in the zine?A: Unfortunately, for the sake of simplicity, we would like to keep this zine art and writing only.Q: Is this zine for profit?A: Due to the zine being planned to release as a physical copy with merch, yes, it will be a for-profit zine. All contributors will have the option to donate their share of profit to a charity of their choice. We are also hoping to get all contributors a copy of their own along with some merch choice.Q: Does this zine have an age limit?A: Even though the zine will not feature NSFW works, as it is a for-profit zine, we would like to limit it to 18+ contributors only.Q: How many contributors are you planning for this zine?A: Ultimately, it depends on the results of the Interest Check as well as the number of applications we receive. We would like to have at least 35 artists and 5 writers, however these numbers are not set in stone and are subject to change.Q: What will the word count limit be for written works?A: For page count sake, we are planning the word limit to stay around or under 2.5k words.Q: Is it okay to draw any ship, or only the canon implied one?A: All relationships are welcome, regardless of canon interaction! We welcome both platonic and romantic relationships. All characters will be depicted as 18+Q: Are OCs allowed in pieces?A: For the sake of simplicity, we ask contributors to refrain from using OC x canon relationships in their pieces.Q: Is part-crossing allowed in pieces?A: While we would only like to include characters that appear in VA, references or mentions of other parts/characters will be allowed.Q: Will the zine be physical or digital?A: As of right now, we are planning on having both physical copies and digital pdf copies.Q: Will contributors receive a copy of the zine?A: Ideally, we would like to provide all contributors with a physical copy and at least two merch pieces of their choice, however, if profits allow, we would like all contributors to receive a full bundle of the zine.
